The range of Panerai – one of the most charismatic brands on the watch market – is represented by only two collections: Luminor and Radiomir. After the revival of the brand in the 1990s, watchmakers not only gathered a huge army of fans around them, but every year they present new products in Geneva, which immediately cause heated controversy and immediately find admirers. It is quite difficult to deduce the formula for Panerai's success: recognizable emotional design, interesting history, and recently their own calibers – all these characteristics are possessed by other brands, and yet Panerai remains special. WATCH tried to reveal the secret of the brand using the example of the model Luminor 1950 Left-Handed 3 Days 47 mm. Lovers of divers and military watches regard Panerai watches as highly collectible The history of models for the right hand originates in the same place where, in fact, the history of the brand itself began – in the 1940s, military divers of the Italian Navy, the main customers of Panerai, wanted to free their left hand for a compass and depth gauge and therefore offered to place the watch on the right. Therefore, from time to time the company returns to the re-release of models for left-handers, preserving their vintage design, but equipping them with modern calibers of its own design and assembly. In general, wearing a watch on the second hand makes practical sense, as it helps to protect them from frequent mechanical damage. Therefore, the question of the convenience of wearing a chronometer on one or another hand is also a question of preserving its appearance and working condition. For Panerai, the case diameter of 47 mm is a fairly familiar size. Traditionally, the brand produces large watches, despite the rapidly changing trends. Contrary to popular belief that large models are designed for large wrists, any watch should always be tried on in a boutique and make sure that even on a thin hand they will look good. The advantages of large watches are that they are noticeable, attract attention to the owner, highlight him. The Luminor 1950 Left-Handed branded protective bracket turned out to be larger, but due to its semicircular shape, it does not cause any special inconveniences. The reverse side of the case is covered with a transparent sapphire crystal, through which you can see the P.3000 caliber, which has a three-day power reserve. Interestingly, the dial of the brand's traditional sandwich design with a recognizable font of numbers covers the plexiglass glass. It scratches easily and imperceptibly and quickly loses its original appearance. Therefore, when selling, a spare glass is included in the kit. However, plexiglass is easy to polish. The brand explains the use of plastic by tradition, but it is obvious that sapphire glass would lead to an increase in the price of the model, since glass of this shape and size is difficult to make. Also included is a spare strap made of rubber. The native strap is made of genuine untreated leather with a brushed steel buckle. It takes some time for it to dry off and not leave traces on the cuffs of light shirts. Of course, the Luminor 47 mm is not a costume model, both because of its sporty appearance and because of its size, Radiomir of the same diameter is more suitable for this role, but if you don't want to part with the watch for a minute, it's better to wear dark shirts for the first time. However, the stock of straps made of various materials and colors will allow you to update the model at will and mood.
